If the car battery is old won't hold a charge, a jump kickstarts the engine so you can drive to an auto store for a replacement. While this can happen in any season, winter is especially tough on your car and extreme temperatures can cause the battery to fail to supply enough amps to the starter motor.Ī portable jump starter is a lifesaver to get you where you need to go quickly and safely if there isn’t another driver around to give you a boost - or if you don't want to engage with a stranger while stranded. If a vehicle is sitting for weeks or months, the battery may easily drain to a point where it won't turn the engine. Not all features are compatible with all phones. At some point in life, nearly every driver experiences the awkward and inconvenient situation of trying to start their car and failing due to an undercharged battery. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Use voice-operated systems when possible don’t use handheld devices while driving. Connected services exclude Wi-Fi hotspot. Evolving technology/cellular networks/vehicle capability may limit functionality and prevent operation of connected features. V shred carb cycling meal plan11/21/2023 This process may improve metabolic flexibility and the body’s ability to burn fat as fuel in the long run The concept behind low-carb days is that the body can switch over to using predominantly fat as an energy source. No matter what the plan is, make sure to monitor and assess progress so that adjustments can be made if needed. Others may opt for a longer period of low carb intake, such as five low carb days, followed by two high carb days. Some people choose to alternate high and low-carb days, every other day. The carb cycling schedule you choose will depend on personal preference and individual goals. Many foods contain carbohydrates but complex carbohydrates, otherwise known as good carbs, should be consumed in greater proportion to simple carbohydrates.Ĭomplex carbs are higher in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, which provide proper nourishment to the body and may improve insulin sensitivity. When carb cycling it is important to focus on consuming mainly nutrient-dense carbohydrates, especially on high carb days. It should be interpreted with caution due to this lack of direct research on the health benefits of the diet. When you optimize carb intake, the body has greater utilization of glucose, which may lead to improved insulin sensitivity and better hormonal regulation.Ĭarb cycling is a relatively new diet, therefore there aren’t many controlled studies proving the health benefits of the diet. Health Benefits of Carb CyclingĬarb cycling may have several benefits including helping people lose weight, optimizing weight maintenance, and shed excess body fat.Īnother possible benefit of the carb cycling diet is that it may improve athletic performance, as high carb days provide fuel for muscles in the form of glucose. Before following a carb cycling meal plan, consult with a medical professional to assure that it is optimal for you. Consuming too few carbohydrates can result in imbalances in fluid homeostasis within the body.Ĭarbohydrate cycling should not be used for those with diabetes or hypoglycemia. It’s important to note that although some individuals respond by losing weight, carb cycling can have negative consequences as well. The purpose of carb cycling for most people is to lose weight, maintain body weight, or alter body composition overall. Cycles can alternate either daily, weekly, or monthly, depending on the individual dietary plan. What is Carb Cycling?Ĭarb cycling is a type of diet that focuses on alternating between high carb days and low carb days, hence the term “cycle”. We will discuss what carb cycling is, what foods are included and excluded, the potential health benefits, and our 7-day and 28-day carb cycling meal plan. The proposed benefits to this type of diet include weight loss, improved athletic performance, and management of symptoms of chronic disease. Carb cycling is a diet focused on alternating between high carb and low carb days. Apple genius bar crossgates11/21/2023 “So directing anger at the employee isn’t going to get you very far.” In fact, though he admits it sounds sappy, he’s had several experiences as a Genius that were very touching. “No one was ever out for the customer,” he says. In Epperson’s experience, a lot of his fellow Geniuses truly just wanted to help solve customers’ problems. Tech can be very frustrating, but taking that out on Apple Geniuses isn’t going to help you at all. He recommends you run your battery down to at least 20% each week, then fully recharging it. This will launch Diagnostics mode, which can tell you a great deal about what’s going on inside your computer.īattery issue: “Batteries are designed to be discharged and recharged,” says Epperson. Glitchy computer: Shut the system down and then hold down the “D” key while starting it up. (If the app or game has data, make sure to back it up using iCloud or Game Center). If the program continues to act up, delete and reload it. Problematic apps: Double-tap the home button and swipe the app up to quit it. Also, shut it down for at least 30 seconds and restart it to get its processor back and working properly. Once the iPhone has cooled off, use it less often for about a day. What to do after a “thermal event”: Overheating phones are common in summertime. Note: It might take as long as two minutes to work. This will perform a “force” restart of your device. Unresponsive iPhone or iPad: Hold down both the sleep/wake and menu buttons simultaneously. “You’re paid to be the face of Apple, a happy person who’s there to help people solve their problems, and that’s fun, but it’s also draining.”īefore making an appointment, first try these easy possible solutions: To decompress after his shift was over, Epperson would go home, go to his room and not talk to anyone. Few customers realize that Geniuses have asked “Hi, how are you? Are you having a good day?” maybe a hundred times on any given day. “While everyone thinks of Geniuses as tech people-and they are-it’s also a super-social job,” he says. Secondly, keeping calm can be a challenge. It not only means the problem will take longer to fix, but it also drains the resources of the team. Firstly, the biggest pressure Geniuses feel is not wanting to make a mistake or misdiagnose a repair. While Epperson loved his time at Apple, he says the job can be difficult for a couple of reasons. “I’ve seen this happen at the Genius Bar where a girl will come in with her boyfriend who’s all ‘I built a computer from scratch one time using a toothpick.’ And you’re like, ‘Cool story! But this is the context of the situation, and these are the tools I have.’” Ultimately, having an outside “expert” hovering overhead will just gum up the process and make your repair take longer. Leave your computer expert friend at homeĮverybody has the boyfriend, the cousin or the uncle who knows everything about computers. “If you own a computer, you need to understand what your data is, and the proper ways to keep that data, should something happen to it.” So whether it’s on an external drive by using Apple’s Time Machine backup feature or remote backup through iCloud, make sure your data is duplicated.Ĥ. Going back to the car analogy, “if you own a car, you do an oil change,” says Epperson. “To be frank, it’s not the responsibility of anyone but you to have protected your data,” he says. In these instances, all the data on the device is lost. Apple users frequently come into the store without backing up their phone or computer’s hard drives, and the only fix to the problem is factory restoring the device. If Epperson had just one tip, this would be it. Bmw idrive retrofit11/21/2023 BMW manufacturers decided to introduce a new design to iDrive 7.0, which would streamline the architecture of iDrive 6.0, letting the updated display present only a selected set of information most valuable to the user. The new operating system had its big debut on the G05 BMW X5 SUV in the summer of 2018, as well as on the 3 Series and 5 Series later that autumn. Meanwhile, the iDrive infotainment display makes use of touchscreen technology, as well as voice and gesture control to work with the on-board computer. It can also turn into a quick-access screen for entertainment purposes. Replacing the Analog Instrument cluster with an LED display, the iDrive 7.0 digital instrument cluster doesn’t limit its functions to showing passive gauges like speed, the odometer or the tachometer. Split into its main parts, the BMW iDrive consists of:ĭisplays: the Live Cockpit instrument cluster (driver display), the Head-up display and a high-tech iDrive infotainment display (central display). Chopper movie amazon11/21/2023 To be fair, the cinematography is good, considering what was put before the camera, and the actors strive (with wildly extreme results) to make something from a scrap heap of clichés and inanities. There is plenty of side-splitting and belabored dialog (like the precious "elephant's graveyard" scene or the "intellectual" discourse on Ginsburg). If this sounds intriguing, by all means check it out. Chopper makes the big fashion statement though, looking like a Crisco cowboy who got lost in the woods on his big black Harley, clad from head to toe in zippered black S&M leather. And again we get a whiff of the costume designer's malodorous handiwork, as Valley Ghoul One prances around in a pseudo-Victorian polyblend smock while her buddy wears a nondescript ensemble that might have been almost fashionable in less hip corners of the 1980s. I've honestly seen scarier make-up on eight-year-olds out trick-or-treating on Halloween. Chopper and his two "scary" henchwomen, who are supposed to be some kind of Frankencreatures but look exactly like Valley Girls with fake blood dabbed beneath their Supercut shags. Our characters find themselves in a forest wherein lurks Dr. Let's not forget this is a "horror" film, though. The script introduces characters with no rhyme or reason and story beats are doled out as if with a broken ladle. The director reinforces every cheeseball scene with what is possibly the schmaltziest soundtrack score ever recorded, which veers from embarrassingly maudlin in the dialog scenes to cheesy groovebox wannabe rocknroll in transitional scenes. The actor deserves an Oscar for delivering that one with a straight face. "You turn my tears into wine," is a sample gem. The dialog is a treat for connoisseurs of bad writing. Aggressively inappropriate costuming isn't the film's only flaw. The answer isn't far away, as in the next scene we move to a funeral parlor, where the next stunning fashion statement comes in a sexy off-the-shoulders black dress worn by one of the mourners. From the opening scene, where a nurse is clad in a costume appropriate only for a porno film or a skit on a Mexican variety show, the viewer is compelled to see just how low it can go. It would seem inconceivable that anyone who spent two full decades in an editing room, where LS started his movie career, could be so utterly devoid of any sense of pacing or dramatic staging, but this film is damning evidence. If there was justice in the cinematic universe, director Lewis Schoenbrun would never be allowed to set foot on a movie set again. Pathological liars11/21/2023 You may not feel like it, but you have nothing to lose that’s of real and lasting value by getting help. You can call the number at the top of the page or fill out the inquiry form below and I can get back to you to schedule a free 20-minute phone consultation so you can get some idea about whether I might be able to help you or not. I have helped these men for my entire therapy career and can attest to the fact that they have the capacity to recover if they can be honest with me and themselves. While I don’t treat pathological lying on it’s own, I do help men who have compulsive or addictive sexual behavior and some other behavioral addictions to recover from their own issues with compulsive lying or dishonesty. What If I Want to Get Past Pathological Lying? That’s because you need to be able to be honest with your therapist and yourself, and if compulsive lying is part of a personality trait that’s baked in…you're really going against the grain to get over it. Those can be the thing that brings you in for treatment, but unless the compulsive lying is addressed there can generally be no lasting recovery. Usually it accompanies other addiction issues, such as alcoholism, compulsive gambling disorder, or problematic sexual behavior. The bad news is that only a small percentage of those who struggle with this issue ever recover from it. The key is to get therapy help and work on addressing the root of why you lie to recover from it. The good news is that if you are aware you have a problem with this issue, you have a start at getting past it. The Good News and the Bad News About Compulsive Liars It’s not really to avoid something in this case. There is some compulsive feeling that is driving your tendency to lie: either it makes you feel powerful or it is exciting, or gives you some positive feeling from doing it. You’re relationship(s) are generally a mess: you may have multiple relationship or sex partners and none of them have a good idea about what is going on (even if they suspect you’re pulling the wool over their eyes). You lie for seemingly no good reason: whether it’s important or not. The reason being is that people with this problem have a healthy dose of denial. If you’re reading this blog post without being told to do it, you’re probably not a pathological liar. So what are the 4 ways to tell if this is a problem you struggle with?Ĥ Ways to Tell If You’re a Pathological Liar: This is when it goes from becoming something adaptive to being very maladaptive. If this becomes a baked-in personality trait, then people can lie sometimes for no good reason as part of their character. Sometimes kids in alcoholic or addictive families lie as a way of adapting to a sick situation growing up, because being honest calls everything the adults are doing into question. The same can be true if you lie to somehow keep the peace in your family growing up. If you lie as a kid to keep from getting punished, this is fairly typical. For some people, lying becomes a way to avoid trouble with others. Pretty much everything that causes people to become pathological liars is some form of trauma, and the earlier in life it happens the more devastating it usually is. While you may have a problem with lying, that doesn’t necessarily make you a pathological liar. Compulsive lying is a symptom of several different kinds of personality disorders, such as narcissistic personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder. While people who struggle with pathological lying don’t make up a large percentage of the population, they do cause an outsized percentage of trouble due to the chaos they cause in their lives and the lives of others. Most people lie sometimes, but for others it’s almost a way of life. Do you sometimes lie regardless of whether it is important to tell the truth or not? Do you tend to have a lot of unnecessary complications in your relationships? Is it hard for you to keep track of the lies you have told to others, and get caught in your lies? If ‘yes’ is your answer to most or all of these questions, you may have a problem with pathological lying. Ice cream stick photo frame11/21/2023 You’ll find all the information and measurements you need in each frame’s product description. But they can always be removed if you’d rather not use them. Picture mounts are included with a lot of the frames we sell. And this makes it easier for you to find a frame that fits, since you can frame smaller pictures in larger frames. It’s used both for decoration and to prevent your photo from touching the glass.Ī picture mount is particularly striking when framing small prints in large picture frames. It’s a piece of paper or cardboard that sits between your picture and the glass of the frame. Adjust the frame size with a picture mountĪ picture mount is like a secondary frame, inside the frame. You can also go for a much larger one and add a picture mount to play around with the perspective. Get the size as close as possible for a nice, tight frame. When choosing a frame, the number one priority is that the frame is larger than the picture you want it to hold. Here’s a size guide, measured in centimetres: For example, A3 is two times larger than A4, and A4 is two times larger than A5, and so on. Every time the number decreases, the paper doubles in size. Paper is measured in metric ‘A sizes’, most commonly ranging from A9 (smallest) to A0 (largest). Understanding paper sizes is necessary when you want to frame your favourite print or photo. For example, a black picture frame goes very well on a bright wall, while a white or silver frame does a good job of making your picture pop on a darker surface. A tip is to use contrasting colours to accentuate and bring attention to your picture. Make sure to choose the colour and style of the frame based on where you want to use it. This can contribute as much to the décor as the picture it displays. Others are fixed in size but are more ornately designed to compensate. Some frames are more basic and are available in sizes from A6 (10.5 cm x 14.8 cm) all the way to A1 (59.4 cm x 84.1 cm). IKEA sells an array of different frame styles, shapes and colours. Either way, a nice frame will help highlight, contrast or tie your pictures in with the rest of your interior design. Display some photographs of treasured memories from past adventures. Celebrate friends and family by adding their pictures to your wall. Decorate using sequins, glitter, buttons, shells or paper flowers gluing them along one side of the frame. Wait till it completely dries before moving on to the next. Frames offer a great way to make the people and places you love a natural part of your room. Use Fevicol and glue each corner very carefully. Use pictures and frames to integrate your life into your decor. I built the wand using the red wire, since I think of it as the active thing and the workpiece as ground. The circuit is completed causing electricity to flow and the electropolishing reaction to occur on the workpiece surface. To use this you soak the cloth in electrolyte and touch it to the workpiece with the power connected. I just use one layer of fiberglass, more than that it is difficult to get much current to flow. I wrap the electrode with the fiberglass tape and secure the fiberglass with electrical tape. The electrode is wrapped in fiberglass tape from the auto parts section of a hardware store. I used a high current clip in between the alligator clip and the electrode because it clips to the electrode a little bit more securely, but it's not totally necessary. The electrode is connected to a banana plug to alligator clip cable. It's important to grind off any pointy corners or sharp edges because those will cause arcing a lot sooner. Here I've made the electrode from a scrap piece of 12ga stainless steel cut into a rectangle. The cloth holds the electrolyte liquid and conducts electricity but prevents arcing. The wand is made from a metal electrode wrapped in a cloth to keep it from making direct contact with the workpiece. One end of the power supply connects directly to the workpiece (the piece you're polishing), and the other connects to a wand that you do the polishing with. Fortunately, it's not hard to do with a standard bench power supply and a little polishing wand that you can either DIY or use some fancy parts. There are some commercial tools out there for electropolishing stainless steel that look really great but are prohibitively expensive, even the cheapest costs nearly as much as the TIG welder I used to make these welds in the first place. If the surface is not properly passivated, your stainless steel might not be so stainless. This means the surface is covered in an iron-free chromium oxide layer. As a side benefit, cleaning your stainless steel using electropolishing helps it become properly passivated. For the details, you can read the electropolishing wikipedia entry. Electropolishing works by accelerating an oxidation reaction of an acidic electrolyte on a metal surface using electricity. The best way to clean stainless steel without these problems is by electropolishing. Additionally, mechanical polishing requires getting the polisher in what might now be a limited space. If you've polished the steel to a different texture before welding, it can be difficult to get the original texture back. Mechanical polishing using a surface conditioning pad works nicely to remove the color, but has disadvantages - any mechanical polishing will change the surface texture. These look nice, but if you want your stainless steel to look like stainless again, a polishing step is required. When stainless steel is heated to welding temperatures, it turns lots of pretty colors - gold, red, purple, blue - depending on the temperatures. Vacuum extractor11/21/2023 How do forceps and vacuum work?įorceps and vacuum extraction function in much the same way: they both guide the baby out of the birth canal during delivery. The use of forceps or vacuum during delivery needs your consent. To help you avoid having to make a stressful decision during labor, let’s take a moment to learn more about when these methods might be beneficial. The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists(ACOG) in recent years affirmed the use of forceps and vacuum as a way to safely avoid some C-sections. That one in three babies is delivered by C-section is a pretty startling concept, and some of those surgeries may have been avoided if physicians were more experienced in operative vaginal delivery. These methods – particularly forceps – are a dying art form. Few physicians coming out of training know how to use them or are comfortable using them.īut as we become more concerned with the rising C-section rate and related complications, there’s been an effort to revive physician training in the use of forceps and vacuum extraction. Meanwhile, approximately 32% percent of births in the same time period were delivered by cesarean section. From 2016-2019, 3% of births were delivered using forceps or vacuum. Operative vaginal delivery – which includes the use of forceps or vacuum – isn’t used very often anymore. The doctor brings up the idea of using forceps or a vacuum to deliver your baby.ĭid you imagine horror music and picture metal instruments attached to your baby’s head? If so, take a deep breath.
